Qualifying a second source for 16 A Perilex: a distributor’s checklist

Glob-el 16 A Perilex range: flush socket ETM420P, surface socket ETM422P, plugs ETM421S and ETM423S, cord set ETM277S and combination unit ETM424P

Short answer: A second Perilex source is safe to list when six things check out:

  1. The products fit the 16 A Perilex dimensions of DIN 49445 (socket) and DIN 49446 (plug).
  2. Each article has a European product safety certificate for your national standard sheet.
  3. Your own article or private-label designation is named on that certificate.
  4. The cord types on a cord set are inside the certified scope.
  5. Materials and ratings match your current listing.
  6. Supply terms cover your volume.

Below is that checklist for wholesalers in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and Germany, with the answers for the Glob-el range.

Depending on the market, buyers search for a Perilexuttag or Perilex kontakt (SE), a Perilex stopcontact or Perilex stekker (NL), a Perilex stikkontakt or komfyrstøpsel (NO), and a Perilex-Stecker or Perilex-Steckdose (DE). It is the same five-pin, three-phase connector.

1. Does it fit the Perilex products already installed?

Check the size and the standard first: 16 A Perilex is built to DIN 49445 for sockets and DIN 49446 for plugs.

  • The 16 A version is rated 16 A, 230/400 V~, 3P+N+PE.
  • It has a horizontal earth contact. The 25 A version (DIN 49447 / 49448) has a vertical one, so the two sizes cannot be mixed up.
  • If you stock both sizes, ask for them as separate articles.

All Glob-el Perilex models are the 16 A version. The specification sheets state DIN 49445 form A2 for the sockets and DIN 49446 for the plugs. The most reliable check is to compare against your own range: send the article numbers you stock today and get back a model-by-model match, or a clear “doesn’t fit”. → Send your article numbers

2. Which certificate does each market expect?

Ask for a European product safety certificate per model: tested to IEC 60884-1 and the national Perilex standard sheet of the country you sell in. One certificate “for the range” is not enough, because each certificate lists the exact type designations it covers.

Market National standard on the certificate Glob-el models covered
Sweden SS 428 08 34 (standard sheet VIII sockets, IX plugs) ETM420P, ETM422P, ETM421S, ETM423S
Norway NEK 502 (standard sheet XIX) ETM422P
Netherlands NEN 1020-1 (standard sheet IX) ETM277S cord set
Germany DIN VDE 0620-1 / 0620-2-1 ETM421S, ETM423S

Source: certificates SE-S-2200808R1, SE-S-2200809 (rev. 2), SE-S-2201015 and SE-S-2600782; all issued after testing by an independent certification body.

Two details are worth checking on every certificate:

  • The standard edition. ETM422P and the ETM277S cord set were tested to the current IEC 60884-1:2022. The certificates for ETM420P, ETM421S and ETM423S refer to IEC 60884-1:2002 with amendments A1 and A2.
  • The expiry date. ETM420P runs to 28 June 2027, the plugs ETM421S/ETM423S to 23 August 2027, ETM422P to 20 May 2031 and ETM277S to 27 August 2031. Diary the renewal dates when you list the articles.

3. Is your article named on the certificate?

If you sell under your own brand or article number, make sure that designation appears on the certificate, not only the manufacturer’s model code.

Perilex certificates list every type designation they cover. Private-label variants appear next to the manufacturer’s model when they are identical except for the trademark. The certificate also names the certificate holder and the manufacturing site, so you can see who actually makes the product.

For Glob-el products:

  • the certificate holder and manufacturing site is Etman Electric (Changzhou) Co., Ltd., in Changzhou, China;
  • Glob-el is part of Etman.

The current Glob-el Perilex certificates already list several private-label designations next to the Glob-el model codes. For a private label, ask at the start whether your designation will be added to the certificate.

4. Are the cord types on a cord set certified?

For moulded cord sets, compare the certified cord types with what you plan to order. A cord set certificate states the cord types, the number of conductors and the conductor area it covers.

The Glob-el ETM277S is:

  • a moulded, non-rewirable 3P+N+PE plug with solid pins;
  • certified to IEC 60884-1:2022 and NEN 1020-1 with cords H05VV-F, H05RR-F and H07RN-F, five conductors, 1.5 or 2.5 mm²;
  • available in white or black.

5. Do the materials and ratings match your current listing?

Compare the data sheet line by line with the article you are replacing, especially material, glow-wire test, IP rating, terminals and colours.

Rating 16 A, 230/400 V~, 3P+N+PE, class I

The range also includes two pre-wired units that are not separately certified: the ETM424P cooker and oven combination and the ETM689P-1 floor box with a Perilex socket. If you list them, ask for the documents your market requires. → See the full range

6. Can the supplier carry your volume?

A second source only helps if it can take over volume when your main supplier can’t. Ask for:

  • monthly capacity;
  • standard lead time;
  • what changes for private-label packaging and EAN codes.

For the Glob-el Perilex range:

  • capacity is 50,000 pieces per month;
  • standard lead time is 5–6 weeks;
  • private label covers product marking, packaging and EAN codes to your specification.

Frequently asked questions

Is one Perilex certificate valid in every country?

No. A Perilex certificate lists the national standard sheets it was tested against, such as SS 428 08 34 for Sweden, NEK 502 for Norway, NEN 1020-1 for the Netherlands or DIN VDE 0620 for Germany. Check that your market’s standard is on the certificate of each article.

Can 16 A and 25 A Perilex be mixed?

No. The 16 A version (DIN 49445 / 49446) has a horizontal earth contact and the 25 A version (DIN 49447 / 49448) a vertical one, so a 16 A plug does not mate with a 25 A socket.

How do I compare a new Perilex supplier with my current range?

Send the article numbers you stock today. Glob-el maps each one to a matching model, or tells you it doesn’t fit, and returns the data sheets and certificates for the matches.

Who manufactures Glob-el Perilex products?

They are made by Etman Electric (Changzhou) Co., Ltd., which is also the certificate holder. Glob-el is part of Etman.

Next step: Send your current Perilex article numbers. We reply with the matching models, their data sheets and certificates. You can also check the document status by model.
